Thanks to all who have navigated to this page. This page will be dedicated to keeping you up to date on everything regarding the Quilpie Shire Farmers Flood Disaster Recovery Auction Fundraising Event organised by Coighty (Russell Hockey) from Coighty and the Kickstands at the Gracemere Hotel on Saturday 14th June 2025.
I will also update any relevant media items that relate to the flooding out in the western regions to assist to raise awareness for the conditions the community have been left in out there after the devastating floods in early 2025! And also make this a platform to share business logo’s and information who have donated so that we can also support them in the years to come for their contributions.
If you would like to donate directly at anytime please click through to the Gofundme link here:

Where do I start… The community support has been tremendous so far in getting behind this, from local businesses in the Central Queensland & Highlands regions and beyond jumping on board with no questions asked. We’ve taken donation of Auction items with reserve prices starting from around $30 and going up as far as $3500. So far to date we have approximately $11200.00 in reserved auction items and this will no doubt grow over the upcoming weeks.
The support of Olivia Bonnell and the team at the Emerald Star Hotel has been critical in getting this off the ground with their tremendous effort in raising awareness and donations in the Emerald business community, while I’ve been locked out of phone coverage travelling to Normanton up the coast and back around through Emerald to take our first shot at this.
Unfortunately due to Social Media integrating a heap of Ai into the platforms at the same time we took a hit on our reach with the paid (approx $400.00) and organic advertising for the original event date. Alongside 3 weekends of public holidays, school holidays, economical pains, an election in the brew and various other fundraisers and community events on around the regions, running an auction on the night was not possible due to lack of attendees. But we’re not giving up and I think with a bit more time up our sleeve this I hope going to blow out into a massive event.
I’ve got a live stream coming up tonight at 7:00pm AEST (Tuesday 29th April 2025) on the Coighty and The Kickstands Facebook Page just to unravel as much information I can out into the public, including things such as:
- What happened with the first auction that hindered proceeding.
- Why I chose the fundraiser I did.
- What minimal impact the funds being transferred through Gofundme has.
- The New Date location of the fundraiser and those supporting to help make it as big as possible
- What the Quilpie Shire Farmers Flood Disaster Recovery is for
- What some of the things the Quilpie Shire Farmers Flood Disaster Recovery will be allocated towards
- A brief understanding of the impact this has on the farming and what it’s going to take to get it back up and running.
- Various ways you can help with the Quilpie Shire Farmers Flood Disaster Recovery

$14116.00 RAISED AT AUCTION EVENT
AUCTION WRAP-UP AND RECOGNITION OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR AUCTION AND DONATIONS
The results from the Auctions held was no less than incredible. Our current total fundraising efforts have hit the value of $15666.00 in total donated to the Quilpie Shire Farmers Flood Disaster Recovery Fund.
I cannot express enough gratitude to all of the local and beyond businesses and local identities who supported our efforts on this fundraising. I have been no less than overwhelmed by the response from everyone I approached for donations, and am so proud to be a Rockhampton, CQ Local and Gracemere Resident. The effort it took to take in donations was massive, but only in the kilometers travelled and time spent directly attending all the businesses. The easiest part was walking into the store and explaining what I was trying to achieve. Most didn’t even need me to finish my spiel, all they needed to hear was “Supporting Quilpie Farmers after the devastating floods” and they were more than happy to jump on board.
So thank you to everyone who donated items towards the auction.
