Coighty and The Kickstands are an eclectic bunch of musicians who have cultivated their signature “Dive Bar Country” style to deliver electrify performances to crowds of all ages.
Raised on country and rock, Coighty has a wealth of experience under his belt which has ensured “CaTK” are renowned for delivering a rollercoaster styled gig, comprising of ballads, party anthems and their signature performances of hard rockin’ Dive Bar Country that guarantee them to be the life of the party.
The Dive Bar sound begins with a glass of raw, unadulterated, powerhouse vocals from lead singer “Coighty“, backed by his self-taught guitar style, etched with various hammer on’s and pull off’s filling the inconspicuous voids in the rhythm section of the guitars. Pour a little bit of ‘Joni Gargar‘ on top and you get an abrupt serve of thick heavy rock riffs drizzled with hints of metal running through your veins. Then we drop in a few cubes of ‘Josho‘ to really rattle things up with laidback drum fills, and hard hitting beats that make the hair stand up in your ears!
“The Kings of The Afterparty”
Whether it be a local pub gig for 100 or a jam-packed rodeo of 1000 people, the boys know how to work the crowd into a frenzy and party ’til late.
Their commitment to building on the Dive Bar roots of the sound unleashes a creative element untouchable by most, predominantly due to the eclecticism within the fabric of the band that. Combine this with their shotgun methods of how they re-create the songs, and the natural gel within the members, and it all just seems to fall into place.
Notable moments in the short career of the band are playing at Country on Keppel 2024 alongside some of Australia’s finest country musicians. And also playing support slots for James Johnston, Dragon, Casey Barnes, Daryl Braithwaite, Sara Storer and Andrew Swift to name a few.
With big plans to record and release some of their own music in 2025, it’s the right time to keep a close eye on Coighty and The Kickstands to see where the next adventure takes them!
